The Polaris is an artistic style with a knurled twist cap that advances and retracts the Parker style ink refill. The Polaris is made from a single piece of wood that is about 50% longer than the single pieces on most other 2-piece pens. Overall it is a bit shorter than most pens, which makes it fit the hand nicely and is well balanced, making writing with this pen a pleasure.

Black ash burl is an awesome burl with a myriad of tiny burl "eyes" and beautiful golden color. Black Ash is native to the north-eastern United States and eastern Canada. Black Ash Burl is considered a premium burl much of which ends up as veneer in order to make the most use possible of this beautiful wood. But never fear, this is not veneer but beautiful solid burl wood.
